From Łódź to Birmingham

10.05.2024

From Łódź Airport you will be able to fly directly to Brimingham, the second biggest city in Great Britain. A new destination will be opened by Ryanair.

Ryanair has started introducing tickets for the 2024/2025 winter season (from November to the end of March) into the reservation system. – Within a week, all Ryanair connections from Łódź for the winter season should be on sale via the carrier's website or application.

The destinations offered in the winter season are already or will soon be available, including Alicante, Malaga and Milan-Bergamo, very popular and liked by the inhabitants of Łódź and the inhabitants of the Łódź region. However, there are small exceptions. The carrier decided to introduce something new to its offer: a connection between Łódź and Birmingham twice a week. This direction will replace the flights to East Midlands that have been operating for the last year and were reinstated at the request of passengers. After a year of operation of this connection and the conducted analyses, the carrier decided to replace flights to East Midlands with Birmingham. This is largely due to delays in aircraft deliveries and fleet relocation at bases in the UK. The second change to the winter timetable will be the return to 7 days a week flights to London Stansted. The new destination of Birmingham and the increase in the frequency of flights to London show that the British market is very important for Ryanair and it is constantly trying to optimize its connections, trying to offer Poles flying to the islands the best possible solutions, says Robert Makowski, commercial director of Łódź Airport.

Birmingham is the second city in Great Britain in terms of population. It is an industrial city (metal, machinery, armaments, transport, food industry), university and interesting for tourists. In Birmingham, as in Łódź, former 19th-century factories are given new functions, and modern architecture is sandwiched between them and Victorian houses. Some people are delighted with this contrast, others are outraged. An example is the award-winning futuristic department store Selfridges - an example of architecture inspired by nature. A remnant of the 19th-century industry is an extensive system of canals (total longer than in Venice). They used to serve factories, today they are used by tourist barges.

Birmingham is the city of J.R.R. Tolkien, fantasy writer, author of "The Lord of the Rings". The famous music bands Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Electric Light Orchestra come from here. The plot of the popular series Peaky Blinders, produced by BBC television, which is currently also available on Netflix, was also cast in Birmingham.

The city is  the home of two football clubs, Aston Villa F.C. and Birmingham City F.C., the former of which competes this season in the English Premier League, and the latter, a tier below, in the Championship.

Birmingham Airport is located 8 miles from the city center. It is 17 km from the airport to Coventry, 150 km to Bristol, and about 120 km to Wrexham, located in Wales, where many Poles live.

In the winter season, you will be able to fly from Łódź to Alicante, Birmingham, Brussels Charleroi, Dublin, London Stansted, Malaga, Milan Bergamo.
