Łódź–Birmingham: three weekly flights

29.09.2026

More options for a city break in the UK. From 25 October, the Łódź–Birmingham route will increase from two to three flights per week. Services will operate on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, giving passengers greater flexibility when planning a short break.

Łódź Airport is bringing good news for travellers looking to explore the UK. In response to strong passenger demand, the frequency of flights between Łódź and Birmingham is increasing from two to three services per week. From 25 October, passengers will be able to fly on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The new schedule offers greater flexibility for both short getaways and longer stays. The additional frequency also comes at a particularly busy time for both cities, as universities welcome students back for the new academic year and Birmingham’s famous Freshers’ season gets underway.

“The additional weekly service gives passengers even more flexibility when planning their trip. Flying out on Thursday or Friday and returning on Sunday means that just two days of annual leave can be combined with a weekend, giving travellers up to four full days to explore Birmingham at their own pace,” says Artur Fraj, Director of Strategy and Development at Łódź Airport.

Birmingham and Łódź have more in common than might first appear. Both cities have strong industrial roots and have undergone major urban transformations, evolving from manufacturing powerhouses into vibrant centres of culture, creativity and modern technology. Their shared industrial heritage makes Birmingham a particularly interesting destination for travellers from Łódź.

Birmingham: an ideal city-break destination

With its distinctive architecture, picturesque canals, creative neighbourhoods, vibrant cultural scene, restaurants and traditional pubs, Birmingham has plenty to offer for a short break.

Visitors from Łódź may find some of the city's neighbourhoods particularly familiar:

1. Jewellery Quarter
One of Birmingham’s most distinctive historic districts, the Jewellery Quarter is known for its heritage workshops, independent businesses and distinctive architecture. For visitors from Łódź, its atmosphere may bring to mind the city’s historic craft and manufacturing traditions and the character of Piotrkowska Street.

2. Digbeth
Colourful street art, independent venues and a creative atmosphere have made Digbeth one of Birmingham’s most distinctive neighbourhoods. Its mix of former industrial buildings, artists’ studios, clubs, cafés and cultural spaces makes it reminiscent of Łódź’s Księży Młyn or Off Piotrkowska.

3. Birmingham’s canals
The city centre is criss-crossed by a network of canals and waterside promenades lined with restaurants, bars and public spaces. Unlike Łódź, where many of the city’s rivers have been channelled underground, Birmingham’s waterways remain a visible part of everyday city life. Exploring the historic canals also offers a glimpse into the city’s industrial past, with old locks, warehouses and remnants of its former canal infrastructure.

And there is another good reason to make the trip a short one: you can always head back home to Łódź. While autumn in Birmingham has its own charm, Łódź may offer a somewhat more forgiving forecast — and, perhaps most importantly, fewer of the rainy days for which British weather is famous.

The increased frequency is another positive development for passengers travelling from Łódź, giving them even more choice when planning trips to the UK. Tickets for the additional services are already available through the airline and via the Łódź Airport website.
