The airport in Łódź has inaugurated another new connection. Today, the first passengers flew to Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt.
Sharm El-Sheikh is a famous resort on the Sinai Peninsula, offering tourists over 500 hotels located along the Red Sea coast, numerous restaurants, clubs, golf courses, casinos, water parks, a dolphinarium, and, most importantly, year-round water sports facilities: both diving and snorkeling. In Sharm El-Sheikh and the surrounding area, there are 255 coral reefs inhabited by over a thousand species of fish. There are 140 diving schools and bases operating in the region.
For those who prefer sightseeing over swimming or lounging by the pool, the resort center awaits with the grand Al Mustafa Mosque and the neighboring Arab market, where one can buy souvenirs, spices, exotic fruits, and handicrafts. It’s also possible to go on a trip outside Sharm El-Sheikh and greet the sunrise on Mount Sinai—known from the Old Testament as the place where Moses is believed to have received the stone tablets with the Ten Commandments from God. At the foot of the mountain lies the Monastery of Saint Catherine, run by Greek Orthodox monks. It is the oldest monastery in the world that has been operating continuously since the 6th century. You can also go on a desert safari by camel, quad bike, or jeep.
“The decision to launch a new route is the result of strong interest from residents of the Łódź region in vacations by the Red Sea. This spring, Join UP! Poland began operations from Łódź, offering flights to Marsa Alam. Stable occupancy and growing demand led the tour operator to expand its offer to include another Egyptian resort.
Sharm El-Sheikh is one of Egypt's most important tourist destinations, located in the south of the Sinai Peninsula. The area is renowned for its excellent water sports conditions—with more than 250 coral reefs and hundreds of fish species, making it one of the best spots in the world for diving and snorkeling. We are already working on more attractive routes to make it possible to fly even farther and more frequently from Łódź,” said Katarzyna Bayraktar, Head of Sales Development and M.I.C.E. at Join UP! Poland.
“Egypt is a destination that the people of Łódź and the region have been asking for—and we delivered. We've gained connections not to just one, but two Egyptian resorts: Sharm El-Sheikh and Marsa Alam. Most importantly, we've gained a partner—Join UP! Poland travel agency—that guarantees the continued development of our route network. I can reveal that we have more ideas for cooperation. We encourage residents of Łódź, the region, and all of Poland to fly to Egypt—and not only there. This summer we offer an extensive range of destinations, with as many as 11 options for beach holidays and warm sea bathing. School summer holidays begin next week, and our airport is ready. As of today, all charter destinations planned by tour operators and the airport for summer 2025 are available,” said Anna Midera, President of Łódź Airport.
Flights to Sharm El-Sheikh operate every Wednesday, and flights to Marsa Alam take place on various days of the week (the trips last eight days). The organizer of the trips to Egypt is the Join UP! Poland travel agency, and they are operated by the airline SkyUp.
