Prohibited Items

Prohibited items

There is a list of items which passengers are not allowed to take into the reserved zone of the airport, nor carry in cabin luggage or in checked-in baggage.

For security reasons, it is strictly forbidden to carry the following articles:

  • compressed gases,
  • corrosives, chemically active substances,
  • explosives, guns, ammunition, fireworks, fire crackers,
  • flammable liquids or solids,
  • radioactive materials,
  • suitcases or briefcases with alarm system,
  • oxidants,
  • poisonous or toxic chemicals or biological substances,
  • other dangerous articles specified in the air carrier's regulations.

Liquids and other items in limited quantities

Passengers are allowed to take only small amounts of liquid products in their hand luggage, in individual packages of max. capacity 100 ml. Packages should be placed in one transparent, resealable plastic bag. One passenger may carry no more than one liter of liquid in total. (This applies to passengers departing from EU airports in all directions. The new rules came into force on November 6, 2006 at all EU airports and in Norway, Iceland and Switzerland, until further notice.)

Liquid items include:

- water and other drinks, soups, syrups,
- creams, tonics and oils,
- perfume,
- gels, including hair and shower gels,
- contents of pressurized containers including shaving foam, other foams and deodorants,
- pastes, including toothpaste,
- mixtures of liquid and solid substances,
- mascara and other items with a similar consistency.

Items not permitted for carriage in the passenger cabin will not be accepted for deposit! Medical supplies and cosmetics useful for travel may be transported in limited quantities. When transporting luggage, remember about the applicable weight limits resulting from the carrier's internal regulations.

Regulations that do not change

You can still:

- Pack liquid items in your checked-in baggage - the new regulations only apply to hand luggage
- Take on board containers of milk for small children or medicines or other liquid or semi-liquid substances necessary for the flight, even if they are in containers larger than 100 ml. Such items do not need to be placed in a separate bag.
- Any liquid substances purchased at airports outside the EU and at airports in EU countries before the first boarding pass checkpoint are subject to restrictions. It is recommended to transport them in checked baggage (handed into the luggage hold). Liquids purchased at EU airports after the first boarding pass checkpoint are not subject to the above-mentioned rules. restrictions, but they can only be taken on board if they are originally packed by the store staff in a transparent, permanently closed bag with the proof of purchase inside. Please do not open your bag containing purchases (e.g. perfumes, alcohol) until the plane takes off, and in the case of a flight with a transfer, until you pass the security check on the last leg of the journey.

If you purchase liquids above 100 ml at an airport outside the EU or on board a plane flying from outside the EU and then transfer to another flight in Poland, please place the purchased liquids in your cabin (hand luggage) and check them in at the check-in desk as checked baggage.

Whenever you are traveling with a transfer, we recommend that you ask the seller in stores after the security checkpoint or on board the plane to pack the purchased liquids in a transparent, permanently closed bag with the proof of purchase inside. In the case of direct flights, liquid substances purchased at the security checkpoint can be brought on board the plane without any restrictions.

Before flying from Łódź to Egypt and Tunisia, it is worth checking out the regulations regarding the transport of exotic souvenirs across borders. If we want to bring back a souvenir from our vacation that is an element of fauna or flora, we may accidentally expose ourselves to unpleasant situations. To avoid this, it is worth making sure in advance that our souvenir is not protected. What does the term "CITES specimens" mean? These are live animals and plants, prepared animals and their parts, and products made from protected species.

YOU MAY NOT TRANSPORT WITHOUT PERMIT:

- monkeys, parrots, birds of prey, tortoises and sea turtles, snakes and lizards,
- cacti, orchids, insectivorous plants,
- skins: predatory cats, bears, monkeys, wolves and zebras,
- articles made of ivory or snake, crocodile and lizard skins and turtle shells,
- Chinese medicine products containing musk, rhino horns, tiger bones or bear gallbladder extracts,
- sturgeon fish caviar,
- shells and corals,
- dissected butterflies.

The specimens presented above constitute a small part of the specimens protected by the Washington Convention CITES. More information here.
