Three, two, one... HOLIDAY!

22.06.2023

The summer charter season started at the Łódź airport three weeks ago. The first flights to Turkey and Greece are mainly carried out by adults and parents with children of preschool age and younger. In the coming days, the airport will be filled with school-age passengers who will receive their certificates on Friday and go on a well-deserved vacation.

From Łódź you can fly by charter plane to Turkey, Crete, Rhodes and Zakynthos, and from next week also to Burgas in Bulgaria. In addition to summer charters, the airport offers regular flights year-round to Italy (Milan Bergamo), Spain (Alicane), Belgium (Brussels Charleroi), Ireland (Dublin) and London (Luton and Stansted airports). The survey "Holiday plans of Poles" conducted in May by Ipsos Polska on behalf of Mondial Assistance shows that over 20 million Poles will go on holiday, of which 9 million have planned a holiday abroad. Most will fly by plane, and every third person will use the services of a travel agency.

Dr. Anna Midera, President of the Łódź Airport: "Observation of all regional airports shows that when traveling with family, we prefer to choose airports closest to our place of residence. This is the fastest and most convenient way, especially if we are flying with children. We observe this at our airport and hear many nice words from passengers praising the rich holiday offer from Łódź and the ease of getting to the airport from Łódź housing estates and towns near Łódź. We are pleased with the cooperation with the largest travel agencies Coral Travel, Rainbow Tours, TUI, Grecos Holiday, ITAKA. We are pleased with the increasingly better cooperation with Rainbow Tours, an office based in Łódź. The cooperation of two local entities is a benefit for the residents of Łódź and the region's inhabitants, who have more and more charter destinations to choose from.”

“This year, over 45,000 people will use holiday charters and this will be the highest number of passengers in 10 years. Charters will end in mid-October, but summer will not end at our airport, because we also have a year-round offer for tourists who prefer to travel independently, e.g. to northern Italy or Spain. Flights to Milan Bergamo fly three times a week and to Alicante twice. We will soon present our offer for the 2023/2024 winter season. We are trying to make it as attractive as possible for those who want to extend the summer," says Robert Makowski, commercial director of Łódź Airport.

“At Rainbow, the importance of local airports in creating the holiday flight network is growing significantly every year. We realize, and this is confirmed by market data, that we have to be where the customer is. Not so long ago, to go anywhere for vacation, you had to make an additional trip to the largest cities such as Warsaw or Katowice. This holiday season, residents of Łódź will find in Rainbow's offer as many as five of the most popular holiday destinations, i.e. Crete, Rhodes, Zakynthos, Bulgaria - a flight to Burgas, and this year's hit - Turkey, to which we fly twice a week to the Turkish Riviera. We no longer want to remember the disastrous pandemic year of 2020, in which the entire industry held its breath and tourist traffic basically froze. After a break, we returned with an offer from the Łódź airport in 2022, proposing three directions. This year there are already five of them. We hope that there will be even more of them in the future," announces Andrzej Tokarczyk, Director of the Rainbow Tours Agency and Franchise Network Department.

“Łódź and the Łódź region have great potential, which is why we focus on developing the offer. In the 2019 season, we offered only one Greek destination, in 2022 we added a second one. This season, we have increased the choice, we already have three charter connections. To last year's destinations: Rhodes and East Crete, we have added a connection to the popular Zakynthos. This island, beloved by Poles, enjoys unflagging interest. We are one of the most numerous nations visiting this place. Grecos also increased the number of places in Łódź charters by 20%. compared to the 2022 season. The offer is selling very well. The fill level is one of the highest compared to other airports in the country, but it must be remembered that the scale of operations is much lower than at the largest airports in Poland. In the future, we will try to increase both the number of destinations and places available from Łódź. Grecos offers as many as 18 Greek destinations, and has been organizing Great Greek Holidays for 19 seasons. Experience, knowledge and passion have made us one of the leading tour operators in Poland for years and we do not stop developing our offer. All this to infect Poles with love for Greece. We are pleased that the number of Greek enthusiasts increases every year among the inhabitants of Łódź and the surrounding area," says Janusz Śmigielski, vice-president of Grecos Holiday.

Łódź Airport has prepared a green garden on the external observation deck for the summer season. While waiting for your flight or for your family or friends to return from a trip, you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee.
